Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a 21-16 victory over Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, winning their NFC Wild Card matchup. The Packers face the Atlanta Falcons, the top seed of the NFC, next Saturday.
Rodgers completed 18 of 27 passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Rodgers threw one touchdown pass in each of the first three quarters.
Vick made 20 of 36 passes for 292 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also ran for 33 yards on 8 rushes and scored on a touchdown of his own. However, his interception with 33 seconds left in the game prevented the Eagles from completing what could have been the winning play.
A huge defensive play by Tramon Willians saved the game for Green Bay.
Green Bay led 14-3 after two quarters behind Rodgers’ two touchdown passes against a lone field goal by David Akers.
Vick threw a touchdown pass in the third quarter to cut the Packers lead 14-10. Rodgers competed a touchdown pass halfway through the third quarter to give the Packers a 21-10 lead.
Vick led another surge by the Eagles, scoring on a touchdown with four minutes to play in the fourth quarter but missed on a two-point attempt, 21-16. Philadelphia had a chance at winning the game on a late play in the final seconds but Williams intercepted Vick’s pass to Riley Cooper with 33 seconds left to to preserve the victory for the Packers.
