Now that he New Health Care Bill is already passed it seems like it became a victory of Democrats over the Republicans. Ever since the Republicans is really not in favor for it. However, they were not able to stop it this time around. After a lot of debates, the Democrats able to have it approved.
Republicans won’t make it easy for the Democrats. Though they been always saying that it is not all about politics but it is reflecting the other way around.
It was just Sunday night when it was passed and with less than 24 hours there has been plans to file a federal lawsuit against it. 10 states line up to file it. It was announced Monday by Florida’s Attorney General Bill McCollum. The 10 states would include Alabama, Nebraska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Washington, Florida. The lawsuit would be filed once President Obama signs the health care bill into law.
Their case would challenge the bill’s provision requiring people to purchase health insurance, along with provisions that will force state government to spend more on health care services. “This is a tax or a penalty on just living, and that’s unconstitutional,” he said of the mandate to purchase health coverage. “There’s no provision in the Constitution of the United States giving Congress the power to do that.” McCollum said.
In addition to it, the bill would force the state to spend money in which they don’t have. He said that it is a violation of the 10th Amendment to the Constitution.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the Obama administration expected to win any lawsuits filed against the health care bill.
Washington’s Governor Chris Gregoire doesn’t agree with his AG and issued a statement that he would oppose the lawsuit.
