Tucked away on the outskirts of a beautiful rural town is a dirty secret.
Drive down the A1 from St Neots in Cambridgeshire and after 12 miles you will reach a bus stop next to a nondescript building called the Anchor Hotel.
While it might look like a run-of-the-mill place to stay, the large red brick structure contains more than first meets the eye, Cambridgeshire Live reported.
A white and purple sign to the side of the hotel reveals that the building is in fact the ‘Vanilla Alternative’ – a private, members-only club dedicated to swinging and an ‘alternative’ lifestyle.
The club has proved hugely popular with guests who have left dozens of rave reviews praising the venue, which hosts saucy parties for its members every Friday and Saturday night.
And Vanilla Alternative has one very bizarre rule when it comes to how guests are expected to leave the place.
The club has the motto “cleanliness is essential when Godliness is improbable”.
When the guests have parked in the secluded car park, they are greeted with a row of lockers.
Here they are required to drop off any mobile phones, which are not allowed into the club to preserve the privacy of guests.
Not that they would have a pocket to store a mobile in anyway.
Members are expected to strip down into lingerie, towels or their full birthday suit before they can get stuck into the venue’s numerous play areas and hot tub.
Key features in the steamy house of fun include a fully licenced bar, a DJ backed dance area and a stripper’s pole.
A leather clad seating area and neon purple lighting help set the tone.
Off from the bar is the couples-only playroom, with luxurious red and gold wallpaper, black and gold drapes, and suggestive red lighting.
For those who like a little privacy there are a number of curtain covered booths.
For those who don’t, there’s also a large public area underneath a circus tent roof, featuring BDSM equipment and a bed in the centre.
While the hot tube is there to crank the temperature up, the air conditioning system can stop things getting too hot under the collar.
The club’s owner even say “a good night” at the club “is always determined by the size of the towel mountain left behind by satisfied guests.”
On from the hot tub is another play area awash with UV lighting.
Here guests will find seven beds and not much else.
In the corner a large red leather sofa and recliner chair allow for some relaxed seating for any spectators.
Although parties continue until late, some guests can’t get enough and stay the night.
The rooms are all smartly decorated with different themes and ensuite bathrooms.
And during the warmer months guests can even camp on the site rather than head home after a big night.
The club has rave reviews from its guests and is evidently a big hit in the swinger community with a four star Google rating.
One visitor praised the discreet parking saying: “Plenty of parking screened from the road, so no worries about your car being spotted and questions asked.
“Nice bar and seating area. Nice big jacuzzi, ‘beds’ in the play areas have now got a leatherette cover.”
However, he did lament the club’s low lighting saying: “Personally would like it better with a bit more illumination.”
Another of the guests praised the club and gave it five stars, saying: “Amazing place. Far outweighed my expectations. Friendly staff. Friendly welcoming members. Very well priced. Hotel room was clean. Will defiantly be coming back in a few weeks!”
And a third man also said the club looked amazing but had some advice for “single guys” saying: “Lovely looking club. But it’s not for single guys, save your cash and use a club that like single guys going and shows them around a little.
“They just use the guys to make up for cash that they lose on the couples that don’t turn up. There are other clubs out there which are better for single guys.”
