The Gamma Virginids Meteor Shower is at its peak this April 14 to 15 2010. The said type of Meteor Shower was seen in Iowa and Wisconsin last 10:15pm yesterday and more people are expected to see the Meteor Shower in the sky during the peak of its appearance. The Gamma virginids Meteor Shower occurs during the month of April with much exposure from April 5-21. Hourly rates of spotting the meteor shower are weak, with less than 5 per hour. A meteor shower is a celestial event in which a number of meteors are observed to radiate from one point in the night sky. These meteors are caused by streams of cosmic debris called meteoroids entering Earth’s atmosphere at extremely high speeds on parallel trajectories. Most meteors are smaller than a grain of sand, so almost all of them disintegrate and never hit the Earth’s surface.
