Autism Speaks on World Autism Awarenesss Day 2010

According to statistics, autism affects an estimated 10 to 20 people of every 10,000 people. In addition, it is also recorded that autism is more prevalent in boys than girls in the US. In order to become educated with this disease, the United Nations General Assembly under resolution number 62/139 created April 2 as the date of World Autism Awareness Day.

Today, April 2, 2010, we are celebrating this World Autism Awareness Day 2010. Autism speaks in this day of global awareness. In that regard, a website is created to help society get informed about autism. With the rising costs of medical assistance an autistic child needs, World Autism Awareness Day will shine a bright light on autism as a growing global health crisis.

In this day of autism awareness, several activities are prepared by the World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) organizers to help increase and develop world knowledge of the autism epidemic and will impart information regarding the early diagnosis and early intervention.

Moreover, World Autism Awareness Day 2010 will celebrate the unique talents and skills of person with autism and will surely be a day when individuals with autism are warmly welcomed and embraced in community events around the globe.

Part of the World Autism Awareness Day is to inform the public about autism symptoms which can range from mild to severe to fill in the barrier on the lack of knowledge and expertise.
