22 Dead In A Plane Crash In Nepal – According to the operations supervisor at Tribhuwan International Airport, Purusottam Shakya, A DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft has went missing en route from Lamidanda to Kathmandu in eastern Nepal. The said plane crashed in mountainous area east of the capital, killing all 22 people aboard.

Shakya said that the plane appeared to have hit a mountainside. He further added the plane has 19 passengers on board that include one US national and three Nepalese crew members. However, the other 18 passengers were Nepalese.

Lamidanda is about 200 kilometers east of Kathmandu.

The plane had gone missing Wednesday, and the search and rescue teams looked for it until night fell. A search team on board a helicopter found pieces of the aircraft Thursday morning about 150 kilometers east of Kathmandu.
