Half and Half Reviews of Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland is out in the cinemas already.  The main question here is did the Alice in Wonderland movie by Tim Burton live up to the hype’s expectations?  The movie has a star-studded cast but some critics commented about something lacking from their acting.  The viewers who have already seen the movie would say that the graphics and the cinematography are really great.

Other movie reviewers state that the movie got really predictable and lacked enough twist.  The movie critics say that they tried to make sense out of the non-sense story that it was supposed to be.  Although, some of the dialogues in Alice in Wonderland may hold deep and true insights about life itself.

The bottom line for this movie is that critics are half and half.  Half liked it, half think it lacks something.  In rotten tomatoes, it has received a score of 61% which is a bit low from everyone else’s expectations. Good or bad reviews, people will still watch this movie.  Like the famous quote in the movie “curiouser and curiouser,” we all are just as curious on how the movie will go.

Got Sun… Have Power: Switching to Solar Energy

The heat wave we are currently sweating buckets under makes me want to urge our government’s leaders re-visit and support the proposal to switch to solar power as an alternative source of energy.

With the sticky situation the United States is currently having with oil, maybe it is indeed about time to pour more dollars into researching the possibilities that solar power offers.

Aside from harnessing a natural resource we are all currently “roasting” under, using solar energy will decrease the use and need to churn in more fossil fuel. This will in turn slow down the degeneration of our environment’s resources. A win-win situation, if I might say.

Thinking aloud, if we can generate some form of energy out of the body heat we are all emitting under this heat wave, maybe that will be even better. Given the 300 million Americans now frying in the heat wave, we might have enough power to light up a small town. So somebody please invent something to harness and convert body heat into energy pronto!

Demi Lovato Enters Rehab

Disney star Demi Lovato joins the list of young and famous hollywood star to enter rehab. An alleged “altercation” with a dancer for her concert tour was the final straw which made the 18 year old actress/singer deciding to seek help. A Source close to the Camp Rock star said that Lovato dropped out of the world tour in order to seek help regarding some emotional and physical issues she has long battled with.

Last Monday, her publicist announced that Ms. Lovato cancelled her participation in the world tour with the Jonas Brothers and entered an inpatient treatment center last weekend. The publicist also made clear that ex boyfriend Joe Jonas and current beau Ashley Greene– both were also in the world tour–  had nothing to do with the incident.

“Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that.” said the publicist.  “She regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future,” added the publicist.

Lovato has openly talked about her experiences with bullies in the past. When she guested in the Ellen DeGeneres show, she admitted to going through painful experiences with bullying middle school which subsequently made her ask for home-school education. She also wrote on an anti-bullying website some time ago:

“People say sticks and stones may break your bones, but names can never hurt you, but that’s not true. Words can hurt. They hurt me. Things were said to me that I still haven’t forgotten.”

Meanwhile, Lovato’s dad, Patrick Lovato,  is speaking out about his troubled daughter and blaming the pressure from Hollywood as the culprit.

In an interview with RadarOnline, Patrick said that fame is to blame. “There are a lot of pressures,” he says. “That is one of the things I worried about when she signed with Disney,” he added. Patrick admitted that, while reports on his daughter’s struggle with bullying, cutting, and eating disorders were all over, he was not aware until recently. But he left with a optimistic note, telling RadarOnline that Demi will be okay. “She’ll be fine. She’s strong alright,” he said.

As for the fans who offered prayers and support, the whole family is thankful.  “Our entire family appreciates the outpouring of support we have received from Demi’s fans,” Eddie and Dianna De La Garza, Lovato’s step dad and mother, told PEOPLE. “We are touched by their kindness.”

The place and name of the treatment center was not release but a source close to the family said it was not at one of the Hollywood-type centers. “Demi is receiving care at a real facility that specializes in helping adolescent and adult women with the type of issues she has battled,” said the source.

Demetria Devonne “Demi” Lovato was born on August 20, 1992 in Dallas, Texas. She catapulted into stardom after playing Mitchie Torres in the Disney movie Camp Rock and Sonny Munroe in Sonny With a Chance. She released her debut album on September 23, 2008.
